Trio Programs

Veterans Upward Bound

The primary goal of Veterans Upward Bound (VUB) is to increase the rate at which participants enroll and complete post-secondary education programs. We are designed to motivate and assist veterans in the development of academic and other requisite skills necessary for acceptance and success in a program of post-secondary education. We provide assessment and the enhancement of basic skills through counseling, mentoring, tutoring, and academic instruction in the core subject areas. We are required to actively serve 125 participants at a minimum.  Despite being housed on Henderson State University’s campus, VUB is a college-neutral program funded to provide aspiring, eligible veterans the tools to achieve their post-secondary education goals.
