The Office of Assessment provides support and guidance for continuous program/unit improvement for all academic and non-instructional areas. This is accomplished through a variety of activities, including but not limited to training and education workshops on assessment, communicating and modeling expectations for instructional and program accreditation, and overseeing and directing all assessment-related activities of the university.
Proper assessment practices facilitated by the Office of Assessment will help to ensure that the university is fostering the maximum growth and development needed by its students, faculty, and academic and supporting programs. The combined activities and efforts of the Office of Assessment allow for the gathering and subsequent analysis of data on students’ ability to think logically and critically, speak and write effectively, level of mastery of a field of study, and other attributes needed to gauge the success of the university and its programs and/or departments and directly support and accomplish the university’s mission.
The Office of Assessment aids academic and administrative departments in conducting program reviews, strategic planning, surveys, performance measurement and evaluation. Through continual evaluation, the department helps Henderson best serve the needs of its students and constituents.
The Office of Assessment works closely with administrators, faculty, staff, and students to provide comprehensive assessment support to academic and administrative programs. Meaningful, rigorous, data-driven assessment practices that are pervasive across all academic and ono-instructional programs will facilitate improvement in all areas of the university and its principal constituencies, and will contribute to positioning Henderson State University as a top university for student learning, not only in Arkansas, but also in the country.
