Health and Human Performance – Pre-Physical Therapy

Health and Human Performance Pre-Physical Therapy program is a pre-professional curriculum whereby all the necessary prerequisites can be completed in preparation for applying to a school of physical therapy. The department provides advising to assist each student in developing a plan best suited to his/her needs. Acceptance by physical therapy schools is on a competitive basis, therefore, a strong undergraduate academic record is essential. Students must declare an undergraduate major along with the pre-professional curriculum. If you want to go into physical therapy, you are looking at earning a doctorate degree. To get there, you must first obtain your bachelor’s degree and complete a number of prerequisite courses in biology, anatomy, physics, statistics, chemistry, physiology, psychology, professional writing and humanities.

Health and Human Performance – Pre-Occupational Therapy

HPER Department/HHP offers a Pre-Occupational therapy program which is a pre-professional curriculum whereby all the necessary prerequisites can be completed in preparation for applying to a school of Occupational Therapy. The department provides advising to assist each student. A strong undergraduate academic record is important. Occupational therapy education programs are based on a foundation in the behavioral and biological sciences. Recommended courses include anatomy, physiology, statistics and several psychology course.

Health and Human Performance – Pre-Athletic Training

HPER Department offers an entry-level program in Pre-Athletic Training providing a student interested in pursuing a masters’ degree in Athletic Training with a curriculum to include modalities, prevent and diagnose injury and treat and rehabilitate acute and chronic issues.

Health and Human Performance – Strength and Conditioning

Students will study advanced topics such as motor behavior, biomechanics, exercise physiology, and strength and conditioning theory, as well as gain the skills and knowledge to develop a strength and conditioning philosophy of their own. Not only will students be prepared for the Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) exam; they will learn how to apply strength and conditioning principles, fine tune their programming skills, and be prepared for graduate programs and advanced certifications. Students will study advanced topics such as strength and conditioning theory as well as gain the skills and knowledge to develop sound strength and conditioning protocols.
