University Place

University Place exterior

University Place is a three-story residence hall that houses 300 students. This building offers co-ed suite-style living, several game rooms, formal lounges, a reception area and multiple laundry rooms. If you are looking for social opportunities in the building, there are many chances to get to know other students by attending the numerous resident assistant (RA) events or hall council events. Some of these fun events include: tricycle races for alcohol awareness, ping pong tournaments, spa nights, presidential election debates and football watch parties. These are great opportunities for you to grab your friends and have a blast without leaving the comfort of your own home.

Your New Home

Your home at University Place (The U) comes complete with stylish study desks, chairs and an extra-long twin bed with a built-in dresser unit. Your living experience is enhanced by your own lockable closet and very spacious suite-style bathrooms. Each suite has cable television and high speed wireless internet access. If you need to stretch your legs, The U offers six large television lounges and game/study rooms. Enjoy the suite life and all the amenities at University Place.

Staff

Fourteen staff members live in University Place. Each wing has one resident assistant (RA), a carefully selected and specially trained student with the experience and knowledge to help you get acclimated to the hall and university life. The first and second floors are where you will find four peer advisors (PA), an equally carefully selected and specially trained student that provides you with activities that help enrich your experience at Henderson State University. These PAs also provide one-on-one feedback to improve your study skills, class attendance and involvement with the university. On the first floor in the north wing of the building, you also will find your Area Coordinator’s apartment. The Area Coordinator is there to provide any additional help you may need and is responsible for the day-to-day management of the building.

Themed Housing

The first and second floors of University Place are home to the First Year Experience (FYE) themed community. This community helps freshmen adjust to college life by introducing them to a wide range of student organizations, events, activities, majors and careers. It provides opportunities for freshmen to discover and define specific interests and abilities. The FYE themed community provides the opportunity to live with other first time freshmen with similar interests.
