Commencement

Ceremony Information

Guests

The Wells Center will open at 7 a.m. for guests.

Because seating is limited and traffic congestion is expected, early arrival is suggested.

Please note that Henderson State University is a smoke-free campus. Smoking will not be permitted in or around campus.

Seating areas for guests will be clearly designated. There will be a special seating area for guests with disabilities.

Guests should stay for the entire ceremony. Leaving before the end of the ceremony causes disruption and disturbs those families whose students have not yet been recognized.

Parking

Parking will be available near the Wells Center as well as near the entrance to Carpenter-Haygood Stadium.

We recommend that visitors drop passengers off at the Wells Center entrance and then park on campus where shuttles will be running throughout the day.

Shuttles will run from the intersection of 12th and Wilson streets, and parking will be available there for visitors. Shuttles will be available from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. the day of commencement.

Accessibility

Sections of special seating in Wells Center Gymnasium will be set aside for those who have difficulty with mobility. In addition, parking in front of Wells Gymnasium will be set aside for those who have hang tags or license plates for disabled parking.

Photography

A staff of professional photographers will be taking pictures of the students as they receive their diploma covers from the dean.

These photographs will be available for purchase by graduates and families.

Guests are not permitted on the main floor to take photographs. Please plan to take photographs before and after the commencement ceremony.
