Commencement

ParkingShuttle ServiceGraduate Check-InCaps & Gowns

The Spring 2024 Commencement Ceremonies will occur on Friday, May 3, inside the Duke Wells Center, with separate ceremonies at 10:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. Doors will open for the general public at 9:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m., respectively.

10:00 a.m. Health, Education, and Social Sustainability (Majors such as: Nursing, Psychology, Sociology, Social Work, Education, Health and Human Performance, Recreation, Family & Consumer Science, Health and Physical Education, Criminal Justice Graduate Studies in Education, Nursing and Counseling, AS in Health Science)

2:00 p.m. Applied Professional Science and Technology; Arts and Humanities; and Business, Innovation, and Entrepreneurship (Majors such as: Aviation, Engineering, Computer Science, Natural Science, Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Business Degrees, MBA, Digital Media production, Music, Communications, Integrated Studies, Graphic Design, English, Political Science, Social Science Ed.)


Parking

Accessible Parking

Accessible parking is available in the South Wells Center lot, directly in front of the Duke Wells Center. Handicap placards must be visible at the entrance to this area. If the parking lot is full, please drop disabled individuals off in the accessible parking area.

General Parking

General parking is available in two (2) main areas:

  • Formby Athletic Center Lot, located northeast of the Duke Wells Center and on the Main
  • Main Campus, with shuttle service available at 12th and Wilson

Shuttle Service

Free shuttle service will be available from 9:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. between 12th & Wilson Streets and the Duke Wells Center.


Graduate Check-In

Graduate check-in for the 10:00 a.m. ceremony begins at 8:30 a.m. and ends at 9:30 a.m. in the Wells Center Auxiliary Gymnasium.

Graduate check-in for the 2:00 p.m. ceremony begins at 12:30 p.m. and ends at 1:30 p.m. in the Wells Center Auxiliary Gymnasium.

Upon arrival, graduates should follow the posted directional signs and proceed immediately to the check-in station.

**Early arrival is recommended but optional.


Caps & Gowns

Once your graduation application is submitted and processed by the Registrar's Office, you will receive a signed copy emailed to your @reddies.hsu.edu email address. Upon completing your graduation application, you may visit the HSU Reddie Bookstore to order your cap and gown. Graduate students and those not on campus can email the bookstore at bookstore@hsu.edu.

Graduates may pick up their caps and gowns at the Cap'd Out Graduation Party, hosted by the Henderson State University Alumni Association, on April 23rd from 3:00 p.m. - 6:00 p.m. at Caplinger Hall. For additional information, don't hesitate to contact the HSU Alumni Office at alumni@hsu.edu.

If you have an outstanding balance on your student account, you must stop by the Business Office on the third floor of Womack Hall before receiving your cap and gown. Your diploma and transcript will be released once you have settled your account balance.

Undergraduate Honors Stoles are available at the HSU Bookstore for the following:

  • Cum Laude (3.50 - 3.749 cumulative GPA) = Ivory Stole
  • Magna Cum Laude (3.75 - 3.849 cumulative GPA) = Gray Stole
  • Summa Cum Laude (3.85 - 4.00 cumulative GPA) = Red Stole
  • First Generation College Graduate = Peach Stole

*All other stoles and cords offered by various student organizations are to be obtained directly from those organizations.
