When you join the Department of Music, you become a member of an organization with a long tradition of musical excellence. Fully accredited by the National Association of Schools of Music since 1957, the department is a team of devoted artists and teachers fulfilling our mission of producing highly qualified musicians and educators. The department is large enough to provide great opportunities for ensemble participation, including membership in the Showband of Arkansas®, yet small enough to offer the individual attention you will need to succeed.

As a Reddie musician, you can choose a course of study that fits your own career goals. Our degrees include:

  • Bachelor of Music degree in instrumental, keyboard, or vocal education. This plan includes a professional education component in preparation for teacher licensure and certification.
  • Bachelor of Arts degree. This plan includes the study of music as part of a broader, liberal arts perspective, including significant coursework in a minor field.

With an option to pursue studies as a music minor, and ample opportunity to perform in one or more band or choir ensembles, there is a place for you in the Department of Music. Sign up to audition for a scholarship, or check out our student handbook for more information on department policies and procedures.
