Ellis College of Arts and Sciences

Social Sciences

The Department of Social Sciences is home to core disciplines of History, Political Science, Public Administration, and Geography. Our majors and minors focus on the study and analysis of human societies, interactions, ideas, and organization across time and space. We endeavor to help students develop skills and abilities in critical thinking, writing clearly, communicating effectively, formulating ideas, constructing persuasive arguments, and conducting research. In-class learning is augmented with optional travel opportunities to significant historical and cultural locations.

We prepare students for graduate studies and careers in higher academia, law, public service and business. We also offer the Bachelor of Science in Education degree for those wanting to pursue a career in secondary education.
