Bill Higgins

William L. Higgins is currently in his 23rd year at Henderson State University, where he serves as department chair and teaches voice, opera workshop, lyric diction, and aural skills. 

Dr. Higgins holds doctoral and master’s degrees in vocal performance from the University of Oklahoma, and a bachelor’s degree in music education from Truman State University.  Prior to coming to Henderson, Dr. Higgins held visiting positions at OU and the University of Central Oklahoma.

He has performed with orchestras and theatre organizations throughout the southern and midwestern United States, and has music directed for many regional theatre and college productions.  Recent shows at Henderson have included Pippin, Peter and the Starcatcher, and Avenue Q

An active choral musician, he has directed for Arkansas Governor’s School, and is currently the choir director for First United Methodist Church in Arkadelphia. Dr. Higgins is a member of the National Association of Teachers of Singing, The College Music Society, Pi Kappa Phi, and Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia.
