William L. Higgins is currently in his 21st year at Henderson State University, where he teaches voice, diction and opera workshop, in addition to serving as department chair.
He holds doctoral and master’s degrees from the University of Oklahoma, and a bachelor’s degree from Truman State University. Prior to coming to Henderson State, Dr. Higgins held visiting positions at OU and the University of Central Oklahoma.
He has performed with orchestras and theatre organizations throughout the southern and midwestern United States, and has music directed for many regional theatre and college productions. Recent shows at Henderson State have included Amahl and the Night Visitors, Scrooge: The Musical, and Candide.
An active choral musician, he has directed for Arkansas Governor’s School, and is currently the choir director for First United Methodist Church in Arkadelphia. Dr. Higgins is a member of the National Association of Teachers of Singing, The College Music Society, Pi Kappa Phi, and Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia.
