A team from Henderson State University won first place in the 17th Annual Arkansas Undergraduate Mathematics Competition held Feb. 29 at Henderson.

Ten teams from Arkansas Tech University, John Brown University, Ouachita Baptist University, University of the Ozarks, and Henderson worked for three hours to solve 10 challenging mathematics problems without the aid of any technology.

“We have fielded a team almost every year of the competition, and this is our first time to earn the top spot,” said Dr. Carolyn Eoff, chair of the Department of Mathematics, Computer Science, and Statistics.

Team members are Bryan Neal, Dallas Crumley, Greg Jordan, and Eric Carter.

“I cannot express how excited I am for these young men,” Eoff said. “They are all so smart and a joy to work with.”
