Patti Miley

Dr. Patti Miley has been teaching at Henderson State University for 30 years. She serves as Chair of the Department of Family and Consumer Sciences. Dr. Miley teaches courses in FCS Seminar, Introduction to Fashion Merchandising, Fashion Promotion and Merchandising, Foods, Meal Management, Historic Costume through the 19th Century to Present, Quantitative Fashion Buying and Professional Image Development. She also supervises the summer internship program for the various specializations.


Upon completing her undergraduate degree in Vocational Home Economics at Henderson State University, Dr. Miley pursued her Masters in Fashion Merchandising from Louisiana Tech University in Ruston, Louisiana. She then taught for one year at Sam Houston State University in Huntsville, Texas, followed by another year at Delta State University in Cleveland, Mississippi, before returning to her alma mater at Henderson. During her tenure at Henderson, Dr. Miley has continued her educational endeavors and has completed her Doctorate in Fashion Merchandising at Texas Woman’s University in Denton, Texas. Her dissertation research dealt with the Perceived Risk for Shopping via the Internet among U.S. Consumers.


Dr. Miley has been an active member of the American and Arkansas Association of Family and Consumer Sciences (AAFCS) for 37 years. She is also a member of the Council of Administrators of Family and Consumer Sciences (CAFCS) and maintained her Certified Family and Consumer Scientist (CFCS) status for 25 years. Other professional interests include the American Collegiate Retailing Association (ACRA) and Kappa Omicron Nu Honor Society.
