Department of English, Foreign Languages, and Philosophy

Welcome to the Department of English, Foreign Languages, and Philosophy, where we offer a wide variety of quality degree programs, including majors in English and Spanish, as well as minors in English, Spanish, French, German, Writing Specialization, Philosophy, and Women’s Studies.  Within our Masters of Liberal Arts degree, we offer graduate level courses in English and Philosophy.  We also host a full-service Writing Center to help you achieve your own academic goals.

Our highly qualified faculty members are dedicated teachers who have published internationally, and presented papers at conferences all across the nation.  One of our professors has twice travelled to Great Britain with a contingent of students under the auspices of National Endowment of the Humanities Grants.  Another professor has earned a fellowship from the Arkansas Arts Council and published two collections of poetry with an international press in Ireland.  Yet another professor directs the Honors College and has taken students on extensive trips through Europe.  One of our Spanish professors has established a foreign student exchange program with a university in South America that allows for Henderson students to study abroad for up to a year.
