Types of Class Delivery

In Person

  • This traditional style course delivery allows students to come to their class every MWF or TR for face-to-face learning.

Partially Online with HyFlex

  • A HyFlex Model holds the potential of maximizing the opportunity to participate in a face-to-face learning experience under conditions of social distancing.
  • A professor might divide his/her class up into groups, with each group switching (or rotating, if there are more than two groups) between face-to-face and online instruction.

Online-Synchronously

  • Synchronous happens in real time. This means that you, your classmates, and your instructor interact in a specific virtual place, through a specific online medium, at the specified time on your schedule.
  • Methods of synchronous online learning include video conferencing, teleconferencing, live chatting, and live-streaming lectures.

Online-Asynchronously

  • Asynchronous learning is essentially the same as a regular online course. You work at your own pace and complete the coursework anywhere, anyhow, anytime.
  • Asynchronous courses may also require testing on-campus, so be sure to pay attention to the course syllabus you get on the first day of class.

Partially Online-Hybrid

  • Hybrid is a type of instruction where much of your class will be in-person and part of it will be online.
  • The sections will swap for the next scheduled meeting time.
  • Hybrid is a mix of face-to-face and online instruction.

General Information

  • Masks are recommended, but not required.

  • Students and faculty are encouraged to use hand sanitizer upon entry to classrooms and computer labs.
  • Classes will be delivered through in-person, remote, and/or hybrid instructional methods. Class modality will be identified in Canvas and Campus Connect.

  • Hybrid classes allow some students to attend class remotely at the same time that other students attend the class on-campus.

  • Arrangements for lab courses are in progress and will be announced.

  • Flight time for aviation will continue as long as the university continues in-person classes. The aviation program has developed specific operating procedures related to flight time.

  • Interns should work closely with the coordinating department for instructions regarding placements and assignments.

  • Grades will be awarded based on a traditional grading system (A-F).

  • The university will be ready to transition between in-person and remote instruction at any time during the semester depending on local conditions and guidance from the State of Arkansas, Arkansas State University System, and Arkansas Department of Health.
