In the aftermath of her brothers' bloody war, a nation is left divided by politics and faith. Newly-appointed king Kreon is desperate to gain control and refuses to bury the body of Antigone's rebellious brother. Outraged and driven by her fierce love, loyalty, and morality, Antigone chooses to defy the overwhelming power of her uncle in pursuit of what is right. Anne Carson's translation is subversive, modern, and thrilling. Antigone reminds us to never turn away from suffering caused by oppression and injustice and to take action against it before we run out of time.
