When Both Courses Are Repeated at HSU
Undergraduate students may take the same class multiple times. However, credit for the course will be granted only once unless the course is designated a repeatable course. For courses not designated as repeatable only the last grade and credit hours earned will be counted toward the students grade point average and progress toward degree completion (grade forgiveness). This policy will stand even if the most recent grade is lower than a previous grade. A grade of “W”, NC, or AC will not replace a previous grade or credit hours for a course. *Course repetition can impact a student’s financial aid. Combination of HSU & Transfer Courses
Transfer courses never calculate into the HSU cumulative GPA. Below are four scenarios outlining how HSU's student information system applies course repeat in relation to transfer courses. In each of these scenarios the transfer course must be awarded equivalency toward the HSU course.
Scenario One: Transfer Course is Later Repeated at HSU for Lower Grade
- Transfer Grade Does Not Impact GPA
- Earned Hrs From Transfer Course Not Counted
- HSU Course Counts Toward Earned Hrs & GPA
Scenario Two: HSU Course is Later Repeated by Transfer Course for Lower Grade
- Transfer Grade Does Not Impact GPA
- Earned Hrs From Transfer Course Not Counted
- HSU Course Continues to Count Toward Earned Hrs & GPA
Scenario Three: Transfer Course is Later Repeated at HSU for Higher Grade
- Transfer Grade Does Not Impact GPA
- Earned Hrs From Transfer Course Not Counted
- HSU Counts Toward Earned Hrs & GPA
Scenario Four: HSU Course is Later Repeated by Transfer Course for Higher Grade
- Transfer Grade Does Not Impact GPA
- Earned Hrs From Transfer Course Do Count
- HSU Course Grade Continues to Count Toward GPA
