Certificates are intended to be awarded on the pathway to earning a bachelor degree. Only grades of "C" or better may count toward the award of a certificate. At least six credit hours toward the certificate must be completed in residence at HSU. Students are therefore encouraged to meet with an academic advisor and apply for their certificate award as soon as completing the required courses. However, students may be awarded their certificate when graduating with a bachelor degree. Students who qualify for a certificate, but do not request it prior to a bachelor degree being awarded, may request the certificate at a later date up to five years so long as:
A.) The certificate program was available when the student was last enrolled; AND
B.) The student qualifies for the certificate according to the current catalog requirements when the request is made.
*Students may earn a certificate in the same subject area as a bachelor degree.
