The HSU Brass Band is a traditional British-style brass band that performs original brass band repertoire as well as wind band/orchestra transcriptions. The only collegiate brass band in Arkansas, this ensemble has concerts every semester and tours at least once a year. The brass band uses trombones, bass trombones, euphoniums, tubas, and percussion in addition to less common instruments such as cornets, flugelhorn, tenor horns, and baritones. All brass band instruments, with the exception of trombones, are provided by HSU. Brass band is open to all brass and percussion students, and students who play in brass band for several years often perform a solo with the band in their final semester.
