The Center for Student Success and Transition
Undergraduate Catalog 2008-2010 PRINT PAGE
The Center for Student Success and Transition works in coordination with all areas of Student Services and the university as a whole to help Henderson State University students achieve success. A student considered at high risk for attrition is one experiencing any type of problem, academic or nonacademic, that increases the probability of that student dropping out of college. The Center for Student Success and Transition works to improve the retention rate of Henderson State University students, from freshmen through graduation. This is accomplished by a number of services that focus on keeping the students’ goals in sync with those of the university. Some of these include:
- Student Success Plan: a plan designed to assist those students on academic probation.
- Commuter and nontraditional student services.
- Conducting Student Satisfaction research.
- Keeping family and students up to date on what Henderson State University is doing through newsletters, specially designed for particular groups.
- Keeping the Center for Student Success and Transition web page current, so that it will be a valuable source of information for students and families.
- Providing available tutors free of charge.
- Providing activities and services for the first-year student through the FYE (First-Year Experience) Program
