Henderson Scholarship Policy states that Henderson funds will be limited to the level of the student's direct obligation to the University plus a reasonable amount ($600 per term) for books and supplies from Follett Bookstore, unless otherwise stipulated in the scholarship award notification.Once a student has attended Henderson they are not eligible to apply for first-time freshman scholarships or for upgrades.All scholarships are limited to funds available and are awarded for the fall semester.  Academic tuition scholarships coverage is limited to a of maximum of (16) credit hours. 

Board of Trustees' Scholarship: (Tuition, room and board, and $1,000 yearly stipend) This scholarshipmaybeofferedto high school graduates who have an ACT composite score of 30 and above or 1310 - 1600 recentered SAT and 3.25 cumulative high school GPA, or have been identified as a National Merit Scholar or National Achievement Finalist.Scholarship will cover up to 16 credit hours per semester.

Presidential Academic Scholarship: (Tuition, room and board) This scholarship is offered to high school graduates who have an ACT composite score of 27-29 or 1200-1300 recentered SAT.Scholarship will cover up to 16 credit hours per semester.

University Academic Scholarship:  (Tuition and up to $109 of fees per semester) This scholarship may be offered to high school graduates who have an ACT composite of 24-26 or 1090-1190 recentered SAT, or Valedictorian of their high school graduating class.Scholarship will cover up to 16 credit hours per semester.

Academic Success Scholarship:  ($700 per semester) This scholarship is available to high school graduates who have an ACT composite of 21-23 or 970-1080 recentered SAT, or salutatorian of their high school graduating class.Renewable for four years.

Reddie Spirit Award: (Dollar amount determined by University Committee) This award will be based on ACT score, GPA, class rank and extracurricular activities.Students must submit an essay on "Why I want to attend Henderson State University."Also, students will need a recommendation from a principal, counselor or teacher.The Reddie Spirit Award will be awarded in varying amounts.The scholarship award will be determined by the university committee and is a final one-year award.

Community College Transfer Scholarship: (Tuition) A minimum of 60 transferable credit hours or an associate's degree with a 3.00 CGPA, based on a 4.00 point system.Renewable for two years.Scholarships are awarded based on available funds.

Community College President's Scholarship: (Tuition) A scholarship will be available to the president of each Arkansas public community college to award to a selected student to attend Henderson State University.Renewable for two years.

Performance Scholarships

Music Scholarships: These scholarships are awarded to talented keyboard, vocal, composition and choir students who are recommended by the appropriate music instructor and the chair of the Department of Music. Amounts of the scholarships vary and are renewable each year.To apply, contact the music department chair.

Band Scholarships: Band scholarships are awarded to talented students who are recommended by the appropriate music instructor and the chair of the Department of Music. Amounts of the scholarships vary and are renewable each year.To apply, contact the music department chair.

Athletic Scholarships of varying amounts are awarded to selected students who play varsity sports on the recommendation of the Director of Athletics.
 
Star Scholarships are awarded on a limited basis for participation in the preparation of the Henderson yearbook.To apply, contact the yearbook sponsor.

Oracle Scholarships are awarded on a limited basis to students interested in journalism and in working with the Henderson school newspaper.To apply, contact the Oracle sponsor for qualifications and requirements.

Radio Station Scholarships are awarded on a limited basis to students interested in working with the Henderson radio station.To apply, contact the radio station sponsor for qualifications and requirements.

Television Scholarships are awarded on a limited basis to advanced television students who are interested in producing programming for HTV.To apply, contact the advisor of HTV.

Theatre Scholarships:  Theta Alpha Phi awards a limited number of scholarships to talented students who participate in university theatre activities.To apply, contact the Department of Communication and Theatre Arts.

Faculty/Staff Remission of Fees: Available to employees (and their dependents as determined by status as an income tax exemption) who are employed at least one-half time by the University. (Adjunct faculty, persons whose salaries are paid by agencies other than the university and other temporary employees do not qualify for the benefit).This is a fringe benefit to the employee and is not a student scholarship.For current criteria pertaining to remission of fees, refer to most recent revision of the remission form.Applications are available in the Office of Financial Aid and on the Henderson website.

Henderson Alumni Legacy Waiver: Out-of-state tuition will be waived for dependents of alumni who have earned a degree from Henderson State University if the dependent is eligible for admission to the university.Dependents must reside in the university housing and maintain satisfactory progress as defined in the university catalog.Application must be made when applying for admission to the university.

Out-Of-State Waiver: Out-of-state waivers are available upon application and approval.Application must be made when applying for admission to the university.

Other Scholarships

James E. Durham Scholarship is a jointly administered (English and theatre arts) scholarship awarded each year to an outstanding junior or senior in either theatre arts or English who maintains a 3.0 cumulative grade point average.To apply, contact the Department of English or Communication and Theatre Arts.

Forensics Scholarships: Henderson awards a limited number of scholarships to promising students who participate in intercollegiate debate and who maintain a cumulative grade point average of 2.50. To apply, contact the Department of Communication and Theatre Arts.

Florence Atchley Powell,  Amy Jean Greene, P.W. Turrentine Scholarships are allocated through the Alumni Association. These scholarships are limited to juniors and seniors with a 2.50 or higher cumulative grade point average.Applications can be secured from the Office of Alumni Services or the Office of Financial Aid.

James W. Workman Scholarship is allocated through the Alumni Association.It is for sophomores, juniors, or seniors with a 3.0 or higher cumulative grade point average.Applications may be secured from the Office of Alumni Services or the Office of Financial Aid.

The Maynor-Hatton Scholarship is awarded each fall to a sophomore or above preferably majoring in the education specialization in family and consumer sciences with a cumulative 2.5 GPA. apply contact the Department of Family and Consumer Sciences.

The Marilyn Humphries Friday Scholarship is awarded each fall to a junior or senior majoring in family and consumer sciences with a cumulative 3.0 GPA.

The Allene Stanton Scholarship is awarded each fall to a freshman in family and consumer sciences at Henderson State University with a cumulative 3.0 GPA.To apply contact the Department of Family and Consumer Sciences.

The Carl and Nellie Tucker Scholarship is awarded each fall to anyone majoring in family and consumer sciences with a cumulative 3.0 GPA.To apply contact the Department of Family and Consumer Sciences.

Florence Turrentine Scholarship is awarded each year to an outstanding Henderson junior or senior involved in theatre. scholarship pays one-half tuition for two semesters.To apply, contact the Department of Communication and Theatre Arts.

Various organizations and the Arkansas Department of Higher Education also offer scholarships and grants to students who meet requirements determined by the sponsoring organization. The Office of Financial and many high school counselors may have applications and additional information. The student is encouraged to contact local civic groups and businesses regarding such scholarships.Whenpossible,eligible students will be advised of such scholarships and grants by the Office of Financial Aid through direct correspondence and/or news releases to the mass media. 

Housing and Financial Aid

Students receiving scholarships that include housing, must live in on campus residents halls.

Conditions & Institutional Scholarship Requirements

Academic Scholarships

Each academic scholarship recipient must enroll in a minimum of (14) credit hours and complete a minimum of (14) credit hours each term.  Each recipient must have completed at least (14) credit hours with a minimum of 2.50 CGPA.  Recipients not meeting these requirements will be dropped from the scholarship.  Priority deadline is noted on the scholarship application.

All academic scholarship recipients will be reviewed at the end of the fall term and the scholarship is conditionally renewable.The terms and conditions of each subsequent renewal are subject to change and will be governed by the then current university scholarship policies.

Each recipient must complete a minimum of (28) credit hours each academic year (Fall + Spring).By the end of the spring term, Presidential, University and Academic Success recipients must have a minimum 3.00 CGPA.Board of Trustee's recipients must have a minimum 3.25 CGPA.  {Please note that completion of only the minimum number of hours required to maintain this scholarship will not generate a sufficient number of hours for graduation in an eight semester period.}

Out-Of-State Waivers

Each out-of-state waiver recipient must enroll in a minimum of (12) credit hours and complete a minimum of (12) credit hours each term.

All out-of-state waiver recipients will be reviewed at the end of the fall term.Each recipient must have completed at least (12) credit hours with a minimum 2.75 CGPA.Recipients not meeting these requirements will be dropped from the scholarship.

Recipients must participate in the room and board program at Henderson State University.If a student withdraws from the housing or meal program, he/she will be ineligible for a future out-of-state waiver. 

Henderson Alumni Legacy Waiver

Waiver recipients reside in university housing and maintain satisfactory progress as defined in the university catalog.

Definition of the term complete:  receive a grade (A, B, C, or D).
