Students from countries where English is not the first language must submit evidence of having completed the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) with a score of 500 (paper based), 173 (computer based) or better with the admission application. The Henderson State University code number is 6272. Equivalent evidence of English proficiency may be accepted. They must present a certified official copy of their high school transcript showing graduation and a GPA that converts to no less than 2.0 by U.S. standards. A completed financial statement form signed by a bank official verifying that students can financially support themselves during their first year in the United States must be presented. The cost of attending Henderson is approximately $14,900.00 inclusive U.S. dollars for the year. International students are eligible for out-of-state waivers. There is a $30.00 non-refundable application fee. Upon acceptance, this institution will furnish the student an I-20 form which must be processed through the United States Immigration Service. Use air-mail for all correspondence. This process takes several months to complete. Files must be complete by October 31 for the spring semester and June 30 for fall semester.
Students must purchase health insurance available through Henderson State University. The cost is approximately $70.00 U.S. dollars a month; this amount is subject to change. Pre-payment of the insurance is required with the tuition for a semester.
New students are required to attend an international student orientation, which is scheduled at the beginning of each semester. All international students must enroll in a minimum of 12 hours each semester. They should enroll in English during their first semester. American College Test (ACT) or authorized alternate scores must be presented. All international students under 21 must live in university housing until they have completed 60 hours of college credit.
International students will not be able to register for classes until they have taken the ACT which is administered on the campus on the first day of registration. The results of the test will decide the student's placement in classes. The cost of the test is $40.00. The test results cannot be transferred to another college.
