Advanced standing on credits from an accredited institution will be allowed when a certified transcript and (a letter of honorable dismissal from the college previously attended) are sent to the Office of University Relations/Admissions of this institution from the Registrar of the other institution. If the student is on suspension, it will be necessary for a letter to accompany the transcript showing that the student could re enter the institution from which he or she is transferring. The student cannot earn degree credit from Henderson or any other institution while on suspension from a previous college or university. Transfer students on probation must participate in a program of the Office of Academic/Career Services.
Transfer students must have at least a 2.00 cumulative grade point average in order to be admitted to the university, based on Henderson's computation of courses.
In evaluating transcripts of transfer students, the entire cumulative record will be accepted regardless of the fact that a student's record may show credits from one or more colleges. If the applicants are from an unaccredited college, they may be admitted on trial, and an evaluation of their transcripts will be made after they have proved their ability to do work in advance of the credits offered.
A student may transfer a maximum of 67 semester hours of credit from a junior college. A student who has earned 67 hours of credit from all schools attended may not earn additional hours of degree credit at a two-year institution. The university reserves the right to determine the number of hours of credit to be accepted toward a degree. All course grades from previous institutions will be utilized in determining the academic status of the student. Transfer students majoring in a program within the Ellis College of Arts & Sciences must complete a minimum of nine upper division hours at Henderson State University in their major.
