South Arkansas Mathematics and Science STEM Center
The mission of the South Arkansas Mathematics and Science STEM Center (SAMSSC) is to promote Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) Education to P-16 teachers by providing research and standards-based professional development, curriculum alignment assistance, and assessment support for mathematics and science teachers. Through these methods, mathematics and science teachers will become inquiry-style instructors, will center lessons on critical thinking and problem solving, and all students will become mathematical and scientifically literate. These goals align with Henderson State University’s goals of producing citizens who are able to think logically therefore making wise, educated choices about themselves, their families, their state, and their country.

Destination Science is a competition that challenges students to use creativity and imagination along with science, technology, mathematics and mechanical ability to build or modify an apparatus that performs a practical function. The competition is open to all students in grades 5th – 12th.
