EASTERN STAR NURSING SCHOLARSHIP: $100
Eligibility: Sophomore, Junior, or Senior Nursing Student
Those applicants with Eastern Star & Masonic relationships given first consideration. NOT
necessary for consideration (relationship must be affirmed by letter from OES/Masonic
member & copy of dues card).
Process: Be admitted to the nursing program.
Submit transcript and two references.
Write letter indicating goals and need.
Submit one page on "Why I want to be a Nurse".
All materials must be submitted to the Academic Standards Chairperson one week prior to
the deadline.

ESTER H. BLACK NURSING SCHOLARSHIP: (Amount Varies)
Eligibility: Completion of at least one semester of clinical nursing courses at HSU.

Recommendation letters by at least two clinical faculty of the Department of Nursing

EVELYN LATIMER SCHOLARSHIP: (Amount Varies)
Eligibility: Enrolled in the Sophomore clinical semester, Junior, or Senior year of the HSU Nursing Program, Cumulative GPA of 2.5 or better

- Membership in Student Nursing Association

- Reasons for seeking the award
- Professional nursing goals (career, educational)

Federal Nursing Scholarship Program: amount varies
Eligibility: U.S. citizen, enrolled in fully accredited school and program located in the U.S., no conflicting service commitments, members of armed forces reserve component are eligible, see complete on-line bulletin for more.

HEALTH RESOURCES & SERVICES ADMINISTRATION (HRSA): Tuition, reasonable

Eligibility: Enrolled as a full or part-time student in an accredited institution

Free of any federal judgment liens
Free from existing service commitments
Not in default of any federal debt
Commitment: The participant must sign a contract obligating the participant to serve no less than 2 years,
on a full-time basis, at a health facility designated by the NSP as having a critical nursing
shortage.

MARY TAYLOR MEMORIAL FAMILY ENDOWMENT SCHOLARSHIP: (Amount Varies)
Eligibility: Accepted into the HSU Nursing Program (freshman or new nursing student)
Process: Mary Taylor Endowment Scholarship Criteria is as follows:
- Letter addressed to the Academic Standards Committee of the Department of Nursing
- All applicants will be reviewed but preference given to those meeting the criteria.
- Sophomore non-traditional nursing student.
- State professional promise, personal goals and achievements
- Show economic need with verification of the need
- Provide letters of reference addressing achievement and professional promise.
Provide a current transcript.
Deadline: July 1, awarded in fall of the sophomore year

- Why you are interested in psychiatric nursing.
- Your service or contribution in any mental health related field.
- Need for assistance with educational funds.
Nomination:
A candidate may be nominated by any nurse who is an employee of the PIPN affiliated
hospitals (St. Vincent, Arkansas State Hospital, Baptist Health, University of AR for
Medical Sciences, or Central AR Veterans Health System)
Nomination packet is to include:
a. Letter of nomination from the PIPN affiliated hospital
b. Letter of recommendation from a supervisor, advisor, or instructor
c. Official transcript
d. Compelted scholarship application form and biographical data form

RUTH U. TURLEY AND MOLLY L. WILSON SCHOLARSHIP: $400
Eligibility:
- Matriculating Junior status in the Henderson State University BSN program
- Cumulative grade point average (GPA) of 2.75 or above
- Current or past military service (verification is required, if applicable)
- Single parent with dependent children
Process:
- The following will be chosen: Two winners and two alternates
- All documents required in the application packet will be coded with student’s
identification number only, with the exception of the cover application form (to be
retained in the Dept. of Nursing).
- Documents required in the application packet include:
LETTER OF NEED (limited to three pages, double-spaced)
AUTOBIOGRAPHY (limited to one page, resume format is acceptable)
PLANS FOR THE FUTURE (limited to two pages, double-spaced)
