Alumni Profile: Robin Carroll

Robin Carroll had always been interested in politics, government and social policy. It also seemed to be the best track for law school, he said.

Carroll graduated from Henderson State University with honors in 1993 with a degree in political science and earned his law degree from the Bowen School of Law at UALR in 1995.

He had a private practice until 2006 when he was elected prosecuting attorney in his hometown of El Dorado. Today, Carroll serves as circuit judge for the 13th Judicial District of Arkansas where he handles criminal and civil cases.

The district covers Calhoun, Cleveland, Columbia, Dallas, Ouachita and Union Counties.

“I love my job and the opportunities I have to change people’s lives for the better,” he said. “My degree and college education Henderson prepared me well for law school and my career.”

Carroll was named as one of the Ten Outstanding Young Arkansans by the Arkansas Junior Chamber of Commerce in 1997; one of the Arkansas Business “Forty under Forty” business leaders in 2001; received the Henderson State “Young Alumni Achievement Award” in 2007; and was admitted into the Henderson Academy of Scholars in 2008.

As a senior at Henderson, Carroll was captain of the golf team and was named an NAIA All-American Scholar Athlete and GTE Academic All-American. He was inducted into the Henderson State Sports Hall of Honor in 2011.

Carroll is secretary of the SouthArk Community College Foundation board, secretary of the Fairview Community Development Association Inc., past member of the Henderson State University Alumni Board, past president of the El Dorado Rotary Club and Paul Harris Fellow, and a member and elder at the First Presbyterian Church of El Dorado.
