POSITION ANNOUNCEMENT
Science Instructional Specialist, The STEM Center at Henderson State University

POSITION:  Science Instructional Specialist, 12- month, non-tenure track appointment beginning July 1, 2017

DESCRIPTION:  The Science Instructional Specialist shall provide professional development in all areas of P-12 science education, model best practices, observe and coach science teachers, support school districts’ curriculum development and alignment, provide assessment analysis and alignment, and assist with the integration of technology. The Specialist will provide services in cooperation with the Arkansas Department of Education; Teachers College, Henderson; the Ellis College of Arts and Sciences; and the Southwest-A Education Renewal Zone.

The applicant must have a master’s degree from a regionally accredited institution of higher education; a minimum of three years of recent K-12 teaching experience in science education; content knowledge of physical science, earth science and environmental science; experience in adult learning situations, team problem solving and professional development. Applicants must have a teaching philosophy that supports the Arkansas science standards; knowledge of current research and effective practices in standards-based curriculum, instruction and assessment; knowledge and experience with laboratory science instruction including safe chemical storage and safety practices.

SALARY:  Salary commensurate with experience and qualifications.
