POSITION:  Instructor (non-tenure track) or Assistant Professor (tenure track) of Curriculum and Instruction, nine-month position beginning August 2017.

DESCRIPTION:  Primary teaching responsibilities could include combinations of the following: elementary education pedagogy with the ability to teach elementary and/or middle level education methods courses in science and/or social studies. The successful applicant must have strong commitment to educational technology and STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics) as well as academic advising. The successful applicant is expected to engage in community and university service, collaboration, and scholarship, for the promotion of the department and the university.

The candidate must have a master’s degree with at least 18 graduate hours in education, science, and/or social studies from a regionally accredited institution of higher education with a strong record of teaching experience in grades K-8. The candidate must possess or be eligible for a valid teaching license. A doctorate or ABD status is required for the tenure-track position; the successful candidate who does not hold a doctorate must complete a doctorate within a time frame established by the university. Excellent verbal and written communication skills together with organizational, human relations and technological skills are expected.

SALARY:  Salary and rank commensurate with experience and qualifications.

Teachers College is comprised of five departments offering undergraduate and graduate degrees: Advanced Instructional Studies; Counselor Education; Curriculum and Instruction; Family and Consumer Sciences; and Heath, Physical Education, Recreation, and Athletic Training.
