Description: The Associate Vice President for Development and Alumni Relations is responsible for strategically engaging alumni and friends and securing financial and volunteer commitments in support of Henderson State. The successful candidate will work in collaboration with the Vice President to execute strategies in support of the goals of University’s strategic plan. He/she will identify, cultivate, solicit and steward alumni and friends and have heavy involvement in the planning and execution of Henderson’s first major comprehensive campaign. He/she will serve as the direct supervisor to the Development and Alumni Relations staff; collaborate with colleagues in the administrative offices (including, but not limited to Development, Marketing, Admissions, and Student Affairs) and academic programs to create and maintain pathways for alumni participation that advance the goals of the university. The Associate Vice President reports to the Vice President for University Advancement. Active alumni and friends include approximately 24,000 nationwide.

In pursuit of this commitment, the successful candidate will possess a master’s degree from an accredited college or university, a minimum of eight years of experience in university advancement, marketing, sales or a related field with demonstrated accomplishment in fostering productive relationships with customers/volunteers; closing major gifts/sales; excellent communication and interpersonal skills; as well as the ability to work collaboratively with colleagues throughout the university, alumni, friends and the public. Additionally, the successful candidate must demonstrate ability to strategize, implement and build constituency programs and activities, and have talent for motivating volunteers. Other qualifications include strong writing, planning and organizational skills; high professional and ethical standards for handling confidential information; ability to organize and complete multiple tasks with close attention to detail; prioritization to meet deadlines; and the ability to travel and work evenings and weekends as needed. The successful applicant must possess a valid driver’s license and a driving’s record that is acceptable to the university.

Salary: Commensurate with education and experience. Benefits include university supplemented health insurance and TIAA–CREF.

University: Henderson State University is located in Arkadelphia, a charming, family-centered community of 11,000 residents situated one hour south of Little Rock on Interstate 30. Nestled in the foothills of the Ouachita Mountains, the community is home to two universities, a strong public school system, a thriving medical community, two recreational rivers, the iconic Lake DeGray, and is approximately 30 miles from historic Hot Springs National Park, one of the great American treasures.
