Assistant Professor of Sport Management

Position:  Assistant Professor of Sport Management, nine-month tenure track position. The position will be open August 2017.

Job Description:  The qualified applicant will teach a variety of on-campus, online, and hybrid undergraduate courses in Recreation and Sport Management and graduate courses in Sport Administration. Courses may include Commercial Recreation and Tourism, Sport Marketing and Fundraising, Legal Issues and Risk Management, Sport Facility Design, Management, and Leadership Techniques in Sport and Recreation, Organizational Behavior, and Research Methods in Sport and Physical Activity.

Other responsibilities include, but are not limited to, advising majors; supervising field/practicum experiences; collaborating with various community agencies to establish field/practicum experiences; serving on University and departmental committees; performing community service; conducting research; and promoting the department, college, and university in accordance with the HSU Strategic Plan.

Qualifications:  Requirements include an earned doctorate (ABD with firm completion date considered) in Sport Administration/Management, Recreation or a related field; documented experience in research-based instructional strategies and instructional technology; experience with the design of standards-based (COSMA) assessments and the collection, analysis and use of data for program improvement; documented experience in student advising; and strong background in forming partnerships with industry professionals for field and internship placements. Effective communication skills (written and oral) and a commitment to work collaboratively expected.

Salary:  Commensurate with experience
