The mission of the Department of Health, Physical Education, Recreation and Athletic Training is to enhance individual and community knowledge of optimal health, physical skill development, leisure pursuits and athletic training through active and experiential learning that encourages enduring healthy lifestyles.

Graduate Program 

The Masters of Science in Sports Administration is a one or two year program of study. Students who successfully complete the program will be able to use the degree for advancement and promotion in their school athletics, parks and recreation professions and/or sport organizations. The degree will also provide those students a solid background if they choose to continue their graduate studies or to pursue doctoral degrees. Sports Administration

Professor Emeritus Dr. Dee White taught in the Department of Health, Physical Education and Recreation from 1963 until her retirement in 1994. White has been recognized by the Major League Baseball Hall of Fame for her participation in the All-American Girls Professional Baseball League. She continues to work to encourage girls to be active in sports. Her work and legacy have been recognized by a number of people, groups and organizations.
