Social Sciences (B.S.E.)
The Bachelor of Science degree in Social Sciences leads to certification in Social Studies at the 7-12 level, including the certification to teach American history, World history, Political Science/Government, Geography, Sociology, and Economics.
This degree is oriented toward liberal arts studies that prepare students to understand human beings in their social relationships thus appreciating the complexity and diversity of world cultures. The coursework for this degree focuses on developing essential skills for exploring the human condition and nurturing a capacity for informed citizenship. This multi-disciplinary degree, including the study of history, political science, geography, sociology, economics and education, prepares students for social studies teacher certification at the secondary level.
