Power Failure

 POWER FAILURE

Public areas are equipped with exit signs and emergency lights. If a power failure occurs:

Contact the Physical Plant at (870) 230-5179 during office hours or call University Police at (870) 230-5098 at night or on weekends.

Raise window blinds to let in outside light.

Check to see if other campus areas are without electrical power.

Turn off and disconnect all electronic devices to prevent damage if there is a power surge once electricity resumes.

Stay where you are unless told to evacuate. Do not congest exit routes.

If you are trapped in an elevator during a power failure, wait for assistance. The elevator will cease operation, but will not fall. Do not force open the doors or try to escape through the roof hatch. Do not panic.

The administration will advise you as soon as possible regarding the duration and cause of the power failure.

“From as early as I can remember, when we were in Gurdon where my dad is from, we always had to drive to Arkadelphia and drive through the campus. I believe the love my parents had for Henderson rubbed off on me from an early age!”
