Recreation-Sport Management

This dynamic Recreation Management emphasis area is designed for students interested in pursuing careers related to sport management and administration, sport facility management/design, municipal sport/recreation programming, and many other options within the sport industry.
This Recreation Management program emphasis combines foundational and theoretical models in sport and recreation management with real-world application. The sport management curriculum explores the historical and societal impacts of sport, and focuses on industry fundamentals such as: sports law, facility management, finance, organization and administration, marketing, promotion, and commercial/entrepreneurial aspects.

Professor Emeritus Dr. Dee White taught in the Department of Health, Physical Education and Recreation from 1963 until her retirement in 1994. White has been recognized by the Major League Baseball Hall of Fame for her participation in the All-American Girls Professional Baseball League. She continues to work to encourage girls to be active in sports. Her work and legacy have been recognized by a number of people, groups and organizations.
