Summer Housing

Do your summer plans include taking summer classes, athletic work-outs, floating the Caddo River, tanning at the lake, or working in Arkadelphia; then you should consider living on campus this summer. You can live in West Hall for the summer while experiencing all that Arkadelphia has to offer. Not taking college classes this summer? Don’t worry, you do not have to be enrolled in summer classes to live on campus, but you must be a fully-admitted Henderson student to take part in this unique experience. To apply please fill out the Summer Housing Application, by clicking on the link, and mail it to the following address:

In addition to our summer housing option at West hall we also offer summer housing at Eagle Point Apartment Complex. Currently we lease 10 two bedroom apartments that will house three people each, one person in a single bedroom and two in a double bedroom. These apartments are only furnished with a bed frame and mattress. The tenant is responsible for all other furniture in the apartment. If you are interested in living in one of these apartments you may apply by filling out the Eagle Point Summer Housing Application and mail it to the address listed below.

Fall and Spring Housing

What you need to know about living on campus. The first and most important thing you should know is that Henderson State has a mandatory underclassman requirement to live on campus.

• All fulltime students attending the university under age 21 who have completed 59 or fewer hours prior to the first day of classes for the term and are not living at the primary residence of their parents or legal guardians within a 60-mile radius of the university are required to reside on campus.
• Attaining the age requirement does not void contractual agreements made for housing; provided, however, that a student who will attain the age of 21 prior to the first day of classes for the following spring semester may request a one-semester housing contract/and further provided that a student under 21 who satisfactorily completes 60 or more hours during the first semester may be released from the second semester of the housing contract. A non-refundable application fee is required before the application can be processed. A student who is a military veteran with at least two years of service is exempted from these housing requirements.
• A married student, living with his/her spouse is exempted from these housing requirements.
• A single parent may also be exempted from these housing requirements if their child lives with them.
• This policy applies to transfer students as well.
This simply means that unless you commute from the home of your parents, you have to live on campus. For most students this means you have to live on campus for the first two years of school (that is if you complete 15 hours per semester).
Any student choosing to commute to school from the home of a parent must fill out the Permission to Live Off Campus Form. This form must be notarized to make it official.

If you plan to live in campus housing, go on to Step One.

STEP ONE: Application for Room and Board - Print out and fill out this form and send it and the $50 non-refundable application fee to:

The Office of Residence Life
1100 Henderson Street
PO BOX 7533
Arkadelphia, AR 71999-0001

It is never too early to get this application in to us because applications are processed on a first come, first served basis. Please note that any application received without the application fee will be returned to the sender. Also, the application asks for your student ID number. You receive this upon admission to the university. We can't open a file for you without this number. Do not send your application in until you have this ID number.

STEP TWO: Notice of Assignment letter (will be mailed to you upon receipt of Application for Room and Board) - All students that apply to live on campus are first assigned to live in Whispering Oaks. It is up to you, as the applicant, to either accept or reject this assignment. If you wish to live at Whispering Oaks there is no need to fill out an Application for Room and Board or send in the $50 application fee. If you choose to live in one of the university's residence halls, please sign the Notice of Assignment letter and send it to:

The Office of Residence Life
1100 Henderson Street
PO BOX 7533
Arkadelphia, AR 71999-0001

STEP THREE: Students requesting special modifications due to the ADA - The Office of Residence Life does not make these type of room assignments without the aid of the Office of Disability Services. This link will give you the paperwork necessary to make a special request for modifications.

“Being a non-traditional student living off campus in the late 60’s, I did not participate in nor learn to appreciate happenings on the HSU (then HSTC) campus as I might have. For some reason, the farther I get away from the actual time spent at Henderson as a student, the more I come to love and appreciate it. I could never repay or catch up with the kindnesses Henderson has sent my way!”
