Jay Deluhery, DVM
Jay Deluhery, DVM, a 2006 graduate from Henderson’s biology department, is a racehorse veterinarian employed by Equine Sports Medicine and Surgery in Weatherford, Tx. He earned his Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree in 2010 from Virginia Tech.Of his decision to attend Henderson, Jay said, "Once realizing the rigorous journey in becoming a veterinarian, I sought an undergraduate education that would provide me with the well rounded instruction that all veterinary schools demand. Not only did the Biology Department at Henderson dedicate their time into ensuring that I received the proper training, numerous other departments within the University gave me all the assistance they could as well. Simply, Henderson helped me to develop the strong educational foundation that allowed me to become a more proficient and dedicated student, and that paved the way for my success in becoming a veterinarian. I am convinced that Henderson and its outstanding faculty and staff provided me with a far greater undergraduate education than other veterinary students I knew in vet school. It is without question that if I had to do it again, I wouldn't change a thing."

Training at Henderson gave me a hands-on experience. I gained a great level of confidence in myself and in my creativity. I was able to take risks and not worry about failing. The faculty in the Theatre and the Dance programs are so supportive and will give you the freedom to explore what you are truly capable of.
