State and Federal Recovery seals

Henderson State University - GSF

These funds will help stabilize state and local government budgets in order to minimize and avoid reductions in education and other essential public services. School districts and IHEs are using these funds to build, modernize, renovate, and repair academic facilities. Funds are also used to provide selected services to students with disabilities and to provide for improved teaching for students most at risk of failing to meet State Academic Achievement Standards. In addition to support for LEAs and IHEs, the Governor has used funds to support state agencies and other subrecipients in public safety, government service, and green initiative projects that will help create jobs and long term investments.

Projects include building renovations, roof, HVAC, electrical and lighting upgrades, boiler and chiller replacements.

“At HSU my schedule in any given semester was likely to include chemistry and philosophy, or biology and history, or physics and literature. That juxtaposition of ideas helped me understand things in ways that I probably wouldn’t have otherwise. A physicist who has learned how to think like a historian, or like a biologist, or like a philosopher is much better equipped to solve a wide variety of complex problems than someone who has mastered some quantity of technical information.”
