Heart Start

Heart Start is the first phase of the orientation process for new students at Henderson State University. All first-time freshmen who are fully admitted will receive an invitation to attend Heart Start. This is your opportunity to meet the administration, faculty, staff, and other first-time freshmen at Henderson.

This orientation session is a two-day event that allows you to get REDDIE for your college career! You will have the opportunity to register for fall classes, have questions answered, and take care of important business, such as financial aid and on-campus housing.

Priority consideration will be given to those who respond promptly-“first come, first serve.” You should receive your registration form in the mail by the week of May 20, 2013 or within one week of summer admittance. To reserve a spot for one of the sessions, detach and return the registration form included in the application flyer. There is a $15.00 fee for each guest of students, but students are free. 

You will receive a confirmation booklet with the date you have been scheduled. We will schedule you for your next choice if your first session choice is already full. 

Please do not plan to attend a Heart Start session unless you have received the Heart Start Orientation Booklet. Each session is limited to 175 students. We will not be able to accommodate students needing to leave early or those who can not attend the entire program (You must attend all activities scheduled). Please contact us If you have submitted your Heart Start application and have not received a confirmation email by May 31, 2013 or within two weeks if you mail in your application after May 28, 2013.

Heart Start 2013 will be here before you know it. We’re already making plans, and our plans include you!

All students will be housed in East and West Halls.

Family and guest of students attending Heart Start will need to please make overnight accomodations at one of the local hotels.
