Community Education Center

 The mission of the Henderson State University Community Education Center is to provide training opportunities to businesses, industries, and individuals in Clark County and the surrounding area.  These programs are created to enhance skills that will improve quality of life for area citizens, and assure a well-trained workforce that will enhance regional economic growth.  This mission is accomplished through collaboration with area universities, two-year colleges, specialized training providers, and economic development organizations.   

 

The Center hosts a wide range of training opportunities from computer skills to welding and Programmable Logic Controller classes.  In addition to courses offered at the Community Education Center, customized training classes can be created to fit any new or existing industry need.   

 

The  8000 sq. ft. facility includes an 18 station computer lab, 4 classrooms, 2 additional meeting/conference rooms and a hands-on industrial maintenance shop.

Upcoming Training

August 23-September 6-Basic Computers (Classes held each Tuesday for 3 weeks) 

This course is designed for individuals with little or no computer skills.  Computer skills will be taught using Microsoft Word.

 

September 13-15-Introductory Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC)

Plant technicians, maintenance managers, engineers and production managers will benefit from attending.  The course is taught assuming that, though the student may not be familiar with PLCs, he/she does have a basic understanding of electrical control components, relay ladder logic and machine/process control. 

 

September 27-29-Advanced PLC 

Must have extensive PLC experience and knowledge or have completed the Introductory PLC course.

 

October 15-29-Basic Welding I 

Considering a career change to welding field or just want to learn to weld for personal knowledge and growth?  This course is for you!  Learn basic welding skills along with welding safety and gear.
