Dr. James Vardaman

Dr. James Vardaman, an assistant professor of management at Mississippi State University, began his college studies at Henderson State. Graduating with a bachelor degree in business administration in 2001, Vardaman went on to earn his M.B.A. and the distinction of Most Outstanding M.B.A. Student from Arkansas State University in 2004. Vardaman completed his Ph.D. in Management in 2009 from the University of Memphis.
His research continues to earn him honors. In 2011, his research won the title of Best Paper Award in the Academy of Management Perspectives. He has also received Best Paper recognition from the Southern Management Association multiple times. He is a member of the editorial board of Human Resource Management Review, and his research has appeared in more than 40 peer-reviewed journals and proceedings. In addition to teaching at Mississippi State, Vardaman has consulted Baptist Health Systems, the Mississippi Office of Personnel Management and the Mississippi Department of Education on organizational change issues and human resources practices. He was inducted into the Henderson Academy of Scholars in 2010.
