EDUCATIONAL JOURNEY

I graduated high school at the top of my class and had several scholarship offers from colleges.  Ultimately, I chose to attend the school "across the ravine" and declared biology as my major.  My freshman year was an absolute nightmare.  I struggled to pass my science classes and my core requirements took a back burner because I was spending every night in the lab trying to bring my grades up in biology and chemistry.  It became evident very quickly that I was neither where I needed to be nor studying something that I was passionate about.  By spring break I had met with an admissions counselor and had things in order to transfer to Henderson.  I started off with some prerequisites that I had missed out on my first two semesters in college and fell in love with psychology.  I was able to turn my college experience around with the help of some amazing advisors.  I even graduate earlier than expected.  Coming to Henderson was by far the best decision I have ever made.

HOBBIES

  • DIYing and scrolling Pinterest for ideas
  • Watching Vampire Diaries, Glee, and Grey's Anatomy on Netflix and Hulu (Like my life depends on it!)
  • Quoting movies (i.e. Sherlock Holmes)
  • Reading (I read and loved Twilight before it was famous!)
  • Laughing with my hysterical family and friends
  • Following Reddie Football - Go OLine!

FAVORITE FOODS

I have lots of favorite foods!  In fact, I rarely turn anything away and I'll try anything once.  I love sushi, steaks, and cheese dip.  French fries will likely be the death of me and I love chocolate.  My granny makes my favorite chocolate chip Bundt cake every year for my birthday, and frankly, that's not near enough.

PERSONAL QUOTE:

When someone tells you it can't be done, it's more a reflection of their limitations, not yours.  - Dr. Andy Baldwin

ADVICE:

Every accomplishment starts with the decision to try.  If you put your mind to it, you can do anything you want and with hard work, your dreams can become your reality.  Don't be too proud to ask for help and remember to reach out to people who can become key contacts for you later on.  Above all, be open-minded and enjoy the journey.
