Assessment Team Assessment Plan Committee
Meeting Minutes
Huie Library 2nd Floor Conference Room, 4:00 p.m.
March 29, 2011


Present: Debra Coventry, Pam Ligon, Wrenette Tedder, and Bob Yehl

Absent: Joyce Shepherd

The committee worked on establishing a third goal. It was agreed that the assessment plan should involve engaging students.

Wrenette said there are several opportunities to educate students on assessment: Heart Start, Henderson Seminar (collect evidence), SGA, and residence life. Ask Residence Life to develop a survey on how assessment plays a part.

Below is the completed subcommittee’s Assessment Team’s Assessment Plan for consideration:

Mission:
The Assessment Team, under the auspices of the Provost and the direction of the Office of Assessment, seeks to create an effective culture of assessment among faculty, staff, students and other affected constituents.

Goal I: Engage stakeholders.
Objective: Assessment team will communicate assessment process with stakeholders
     1. Assessment Team contact log. Minimum of 3 contacts each year.
     2. Survey. How affective was the Team member in communicating deadlines, etc. (Wrenette will send this out)

Goal II: Encourage institution participation.
Objective I: Units should demonstrate a knowledge and adherence of the assessment process.
     1. All Units will submit an assessment plan in TracDat by the stated deadline.
     2. At least 75% of the plans submitted will score adequate or above based on the rubric for academic and nonacademic programs. (copy and paste 1 & 2 of rubric)
Objective II: B. Units should complete the assessment process by collecting and analyzing data and implementing change if necessary.
     Means:
          1. All Units will submit an assessment plan in TracDat by the stated deadline.
          2. At least 75% of the plans submitted will score adequate or above based on the rubric for academic and nonacademic programs. (copy and paste 1 & 2 of rubric)

Goal III: Involve students.
Objective: Students will demonstrate their knowledge of the assessment process.
     Means:
          1. Increase the number of avenues we are reaching out to student stakeholders.
          2. 75% of faculty will list in their syllabi list their course objectives and student learning outcomes.

The Plan will be submitted to the Team for their approval.
