We know you can succeed and we're willing to help. We offer tutoring and supplemental education services through several departments. We can help you improve your grades, raise your test scores, learn productive study skills, build you academic self-confidence, and reach your full potential.

First Year Experience Tutoring
The First Year Experience Program (FYE) helps new students adjust to college life. They offer FREE tutoring. If you are a freshman, or a new transfer student, contact FYE for tutoring help.
Student Support Services Tutoring
Student Support Services offers 2 types of tutoring for eligible participants in its program. They are:
One-on-one tutoring scheduled between the student and tutor
One-on-one tutoring is where the student and tutor schedule a time and place to meet that is convenient for both. Public areas such as class buildings, SSS Office, SSS tutoring center, the library or the commuter lounge are recommended. SSS students may receive up to 3 hours tutoring per week, per subject and may be tutored in more than one subject.
Drop-in tutoring in certain buildings at specific times
Drop-in tutoring is offered with a tutor assigned to the SSS office at specific hours. These sessions are limited to high demand subjects such as math and science. If SSS participants need tutoring in these subjects, they are welcome to drop in for help without an appointment.
All Tutoring Services are Free.
You are eligible to participate in SSS if you meet all of the following requirements:
► You are a citizen or national of the United States or meets the residency requirements
for Federal Financial Aid
► You are enrolled or admitted to Henderson State University the next academic term
► You have a need for academic support in order to pursue successfully a post-secondary degree
► You are considered low-income, are a first-generation college student or have a disability
Student Support Services-Disability Resource Center
You can receive FREE individual tutoring provided by a peer tutor who is familiar with course content. You are eligible for tutoring through the Disability Resource Center if you are enrolled or accepted for enrollment, have a documented disability and an academic need for the service.
Free tutoring is provided in Evans 208 for students in Elementary Algebra, Intermediate Algebra, Mathematics for the Liberal Arts, Mathematics through Practical Applications, College Algebra, Plane Trigonometry, and Pre-calculus.
The Writing Center
The Writing Center services are available for all Henderson Students. Students. Graduate assistants and writing tutors will give you one-on-one assistance with writing skills. They can help you become a better writer.
