Outdoor Programming

 

 

The primary service of the Outdoor Programming department (located in the Student Recreation Center) is the rental of camping and outdoor sporting equipment to the HSU community.  The program will soon sponsor outdoor educational seminars and clinics in and around Arkadelphia on such topics as kayaking, backpacking, climbing, mountain biking, etc.  Equipment can be rented by week, weekend, or just for a day and  reserved in advance to assure availability.

Rental Policies and Procedures

Rental Rates 

• All rentals must be insured with a valid credit card number.  Customers may pay with cash or check upon return. 

Reservations 

• Reservations must be made in person. 
• A deposit of 100% of the transation must be made to reserve item(s). 
• All reservations and rentals must be insured with a valid credit card number.

Late Fees 

• Equipment that is returned late is subject to late fees.
• A late fee (equal to 1.5 times the daily rental fee per day overdue) will be assessed if not returned on time.
• Equipment is considered late if returned after 4:30pm on the date it is due.
• If the equipment you returned late was scheduled to be rented by another party before the time that you actually returned it, then you will be charged the entire cost of that party's reservation.
• Note:  Please don't jeopardize someone else's adventure by returning equipment late. 

Check-Out Procedures 

• Checking out equipment can take up to 30 minutes or longer depending on the amount of equipment rented. 
• All equipment checked out on Friday (or the day before a holiday weekend) will be considered a weekend rental and be due back Monday. Equipment cannot be returned on weekends.  
• To check out or reserve equipment you will need the following 
• Henderson ID  
• Driver’s Liscense  
• Credit Card with amount of deposit available (required even if equipment is paid for with cash or check)  
• Address, phone, and email.   
• Before leaving the SRC inspect all of the equipment carefully. 
• Report any existing damage to staff members, so you will not be held responsible for existing damage 

• Check-in Procedures  

  • Equipment must be returned to the SRC staff no later than 4:30 PM on the ending day of the rental period.
  • Equipment check-in can take up to 30 minutes or longer depending upon the amount and type of equipment rented, so please plan accordingly.
  • Equipment will be inspected for damages and cleanliness upon return by SRC staff.
  • Fees will be assessed for any damages to equipment.
  • All equipment must be clean at the time of check in or you will be charged a cleaning fee.
  • A water hose and cleaning equipment are available for use at the SRC.

Outdoor Equipment Rental Items
