MASTER OF SCIENCE IN SPORTS ADMINISTRATION (MS)

The Master of Science in Sports Administration is a one or two year program of study. Students who successfully complete the program will be able to use the degree for advancement and promotion in their school and college athletics, parks, and recreation professions / sport organizations. The degree will also provide those students a solid background if they choose to continue their graduate work in pursuit of doctoral degrees.
  1. The development of the academic and professional competencies of the student;
  2. The knowledge of the major literature in the field of Sports Administration
  3. The development of competencies for independent study in methods of inquiry through quantitative and qualitative research methods;
  4. The knowledge of the subject matter content in the field of Sports Administration.
Entrance Requirements:
  1. All prospective students to the MS on Sports Administration program will write a letter of application stating the reason's why they wish to pursue an advanced degree, a goal statement, and what work background and educational experience they have related to Sports Administration. Letters of application will be reviewed by a committee of the Sports Administration graduate faculty and recommendations will be submitted to the Graduate School.
  2. All prospective students will have to meet the Henderson State University Graduate Admissions requirements.

HPR 6793 Methods and Materials of Research in Sport and Physical Activity
HPR 6396 Field Experience in Sport and Activity Management
OR
HPR 5273 Physiology of Exercise
AND
HPR 6233 Scientific Analysis of Motor Activity

Exit Requirements
  1. All students in the MS in Sports Administration program will upon completion of their course work or while completing their course work take a comprehensive written exam over the course material.
  2. All students will prepare a portfolio of materials to be submitted at the conclusion of all their course work to be reviewed by a committee of the graduate faculty in the Sports Administration program for determination of successful completion.
