  1. Keep copies of all admission papers in a file folder for your records.

  2. Generally, interviews will be held on the second floor of the Education Center. Approximately thirty 30 minutes are allowed for the interview. Confirm interview time and place with the EDL secretary, Catherine Karnes at 870-230-5267 or karnesc@hsu.edu.

  3. Review your copy of the admissions folder including essay prior to the interview.

  4. Dress professionally as you would for an important job interview. If you have questions about appropriate dress, ask the Graduate School or EDL secretary. Remember, "You never get a second chance to make a first impression."

  5. Please arrive 10 minutes before scheduled interview time. You may be seated in the waiting area by the elevator.

  6. The interview team will consist of two (2) EDL faculty members and/or Teachers College, Henderson administrators. The Coordinator of the EDL Program or designee will facilitate the interview session.

  7. In the interview process, your verbal communications skills will be assessed to determine your potential as an educational leader. Prior to the interview, team members will assess your written communication skills by reviewing your admissions folder. Statements from your essay may be the basis for questions by team members. Rubrics are used for assessing your folder contents and interview session. Each team member submits individual scores that are averaged for the final rubrics, which become part of your Graduate School folder. Copies of the rubrics may be obtained from the Graduate School.

  8. Following the interview, you will be excused and the interview team members will discuss your performance and their rubric assessments. If you wish, you may wait in the second floor lobby and the Coordinator or designee will notify you immediately of the decision.

  9. The Coordinator will notify the Graduate Dean, in writing, of your status and, if you have been successful, will assign your advisor.

  10. You will receive a letter from the Graduate Dean informing you of this decision and your status.

Thank you for your interest in our M.S.E. degree program in educational leadership. We look forward to your interview .
