Department of Curriculum and Instruction

The Department of Curriculum and Instruction administers the Elementary Education (K-6),  Middle Level Education (4-8), and Special Education (K-12) undergraduate programs along with the Master of Arts in Teaching (MAT) graduate degree licensure program.    

CONTENT AREA OPTIONS

Teacher licensure is also available in the following areas: art, English, family & consumer sciences, math, music, physical education, social studies, and Spanish. Information about these programs can be obtained by visiting those specific departments.

SCHOLARSHIP APPLICATIONS for juniors and seniors are due Friday, March 6, 2015.  Check website later for application form.

INTERNSHIP APPLICATIONS for Spring 2015 internships are due October 1, 2014. Graduation applications should be completed BEFORE submitting internship application.



OUR MISSION STATEMENT

The mission of the Department of Curriculum and Instruction is to prepare elementary, middle level, and secondary candidates to become highly effective and productive teachers for P-12 schools. As a result, the department exists to develop well-informed educators who know their content, command 21st century pedagogical skills, use varied and appropriate technology to communicate effectively with diverse audiences, value the differences their students bring to the classroom, and model high moral and ethical professional standards and dispositions.
