Welcome to the Teachers College, Henderson Counselor Education Program Website.

The Counselor Education program offers studies in School Counseling and Clinical Mental Health Counseling. The program selects highly qualified and motivated students and prepares them to become effective professionals in counseling and related fields.

Counselor preparation combines three areas: the knowledge base, which includes the eight CACREP common-core areas; a variety of counseling skills; and, personal dispositions.

Successful students learn to apply theory, acquire a repertoire of helping skills, evaluate and improve personal and professional attributes, develop active listening skills and the empathy necessary to work with a diverse population in a counseling relationship.
