We invite you to learn more about us by exploring this website and by calling or visiting us.

If you are experiencing a mental health emergency, please call 230-5102 or contact the HSU Police Department (230-5098), or a Residence Assistant immediately. You may "walk-in" to the Counseling Center during business hours without an appointment.

The Counseling Center is available to Henderson State University under-graduate, graduate students, staff, and faculty during the academic calendar year. We provide an opportunity to explore concerns and problems with a counselor in a confidential setting.

  • Individual Counseling. Professional counselors provide one-on-one consultation for Henderson students and staff who require in-depth or definitive therapy.
  • Group Therapy.Group therapy is also available to provide peer support in times of need.
  • Referrals. The University Counseling Center's staff refers students to specialists if there is a need for extra psychological support

The Mission of the Counseling Center
The University Counseling Center, as a department within the Division of Student Services, has its primary mission promoting and enhancing the quality of life of Henderson State University students and aiding in their retention, by offering prevention and early treatment or referral for developmental, emotional, or interpersonal difficulties that arise during the educational process.  Toward this goal, the University Counseling Center provides timely and confidential supportive short-term counseling services of the highest possible quality, prevention-oriented guidance, and referral for long term or specialized clinical services.
