Partners Since 1890's

Since Henderson State University's inception as Arkadelphia Methodist College in the 1890's, military drill and uniforms have been part of the curriculum, complete with uniforms for men and women students. 

Originally formed by the local Methodist congregation to answer the Baptist's Ouachita Baptist University organized in 1884, Henderson continued to survive and grow with the help of local citizenry, a committed student body and finally auspices of the State of Arkansas. 

Today Henderson is the second oldest state operated university and the only public institution named for a individual.
