Robert Proscenium is a magazine of fiction and poetry published annually by the Department of English & Foreign Languages in the Ellis College of Arts and Sciences.  Editorial work began in 1968 at Henderson State College (now Henderson State University), and the first issue was published in 1969. Publication has been continuous since that time.  "Proscenium" is derived from the Greek word for the front stage of the theatre.  Proscenium, the magazine, was created to bring front and center poetry and short stories written by HSU students and faculty members.

Janet L. Sorensen was the first editor and, during the initial years of publication, four sponsors from the faculty and staff of the college supervised a staff ranging from six to eleven students in putting out the magazine. Larry Don Frost, an instructor in the Department of English, became editor for Proscenium 1971. In 1973, Patrick Adcock, another instructor in English, joined him.
Upon Dr. Adcock's retirement in 1998, Dr. Marck L. Beggs became Proscenium's newest editor.  Dr. Frost retired in 2001.

To have your work considered for future issues, please submit a manuscript of no more than five poems or two stories to  Dr. Marck L. Beggs (HSU Box 7601).  Be sure to include information on how to contact you.   E-mail:  beggsm@hsu.edu
