John L. Carey Scholarship Program |
|
Liberal arts students wishing to pursue graduate accounting study can receive financial aid through the AICPA John L. Carey Scholarship Program.
Scholarships are available to all liberal arts degree holders of any regionally accredited U.S. institution who wish to pursue a CPA certificate. Scholarships are given based on academic achievement, leadership and future career interests and are contingent upon acceptance in a graduate program. Each year, up to five recipients will be awarded $5,000 and will be eligible for renewal for one more year, provided satisfactory scholastic progress is maintained.

Minority Scholarships for Accounting Students |

AICPA scholarships are available to minority students who have satisfactorily completed at least 30 semester hours (45 quarter hours) of college work, with at least six (6) semester hours in accounting, and have an overall and accounting grade point average (GPA) of at least 3.0. Undergraduate students must be enrolled on a full-time basis (12 semester hours or equivalent) at a four-year or upper division institution. Graduate students enrolled in a five-year accounting program or in a master's level program in accounting, business administration, finance or taxation are also elgible. Graduate students must also be enrolled in school on a full-time basis (9 semester hours or equivalent).

The Young Bankers Section of the Arkansas Bankers Association |

The Young Bankers Section of the Arkansas Bankers Association sponsors a scholarship each year to an Arkansas student who would like to enter the field of banking. The scholarship is for $2,500. The eligibility requirements are as follows:
1) You must be a bono fide resident of Arkansas
2) You must have completed 80 hours by December 21
3) Must be majoring in banking, finance, or business and must have plans to enter the banking profession
4) Must have an overall grade point of at least 3.0 on a 4.0 scale
Applicants will be judged on the basis of scholastic record, probability of entering banking or a bank related field of employment upon graduation, financial need, character, leadership and potential for development.
Applications must be submitted to the Scholarship Committee no later than April 2. Personal interview will be held Saturday, April 24, 2004 in Little Rock. All applicants meeting the eligibility requirements will be notified and an interview time set up for you.

The Arkansas Community Foundation announced the availability of scholarship awards for Arkansas students whose parents have died in service to their nation, state or community. Click here for detail.
The Gates Millennium Scholars (GMS), funded by a grant from the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, was established in 1999 to provide outstanding low income African American, American Indian/Alaska Natives, Asian Pacific Islander American*, and Hispanic American students with an opportunity to complete an undergraduate college education in any discipline area of interest. Continuing GMS Scholars may request funding for a graduate degree program in one of the following discipline areas: education, engineering, library science, mathematics, public health or science. The goal of GMS is to promote academic excellence by providing thousands of outstanding students, who have significant financial need, the opportunity to reach their full potential. The U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS) announces program guidelines for the competition cycle of the DHS Scholarship and Fellowship Program. Complete information is available online at http://www.orau.gov/dhsed/.The last competition cycle provided financial support for approximately 100 Scholars and Fellows. All applicants are expected to apply using the online application. The deadline for submitting an application is in January. Questions regarding the DHS Scholarship and Fellowship Program can be sent via e-mail todhsed@orau.org.
Students may apply for the Henry Bell Sr. Scholarship . Applications are available in Office of Diversity, Womack 311. This scholarship focuses on minority freshman from the Clark County area.
Ronald McNair Achievement Program -- The mission of the McNair Achievement Program (MAP) is to prepare students for doctoral studies through involvement in research and scholarly activities. The vision for MAP is to increase the numbers of low-income, first-generation college students who enroll in graduate programs with the goal of a receiving a doctoral degree. Click here for details.

As the nation’s leading organization supporting Hispanic higher education, the Hispanic Scholarship Fund (HSF) looks forward to another great year but we couldn’t do it without support from people like you! Flyers can be downloaded in both English andSpanish.
On August 1st, students may begin applying to the following scholarship programs provided by HSF:
· High School Scholarship Program: Available to graduating high school seniors who will be enrolled in college full-time during the coming academic year. Please email highschool@hsf.net with questions relating to this program.
· Community College Transfer Scholarship Program: Available to community college students who will be transferring and enrolling full-time at a four-year institution during the coming academic year. Please email cctransfer@hsf.net with questions relating to this program.
· College Scholarship Program: Available to undergraduate or graduate students enrolled in college full-time during the coming academic year. Please email scholar1@hsf.net with questions relating to this program.
· Gates Millennium Scholars: Available to graduating high school seniors who will be enrolled in college full-time during the coming academic year. Please email gmsinfo@hsf.net with questions relating to this program.
